The latest evidence base relevant to osteopathic care: what can we say is effective and safe?

This webinar will give an overview of the current evidence relevant to osteopathic care. The evidence presented is from systematic reviews and national guidance, we will focus on the recommendations made from moderate to strong quality evidence from published research summaries that indicate beneficial effects for patients. The data from this study will be presented to the Advertising Standards Authority for consideration.

At the end of the webinar you will be able to say confidently what type of care, for whom has beneficial effects on which outcomes.

Your webinar host will be Prof. Dawn Carnes, the Director of the National Council for Osteopathic Research UK (www.ncor.org.uk).

This webinar will provide CPD relevant to the following sections of the Osteopathic Practice Standards:

  1. Communication and Patient Partnership

·        A3. You must give patients the information they want or need to know in a way they can understand.

·        A4. You must receive valid consent for all aspects of examination and treatment and record this as appropriate.

 

  1. Knowledge, Skills and Performance

·        B1 You must have and be able to apply sufficient and appropriate knowledge and skills to support your work as an osteopath.

·        B3. You must keep your professional knowledge and skills up to date.

·        B4. You must be able to analyse and reflect upon information related to your practice in order to enhance patient care.

 

  1. Safety and Quality in Practice

·        C1. You must be able to conduct an osteopathic patient evaluation and deliver safe, competent and appropriate osteopathic care to your patients.
