Annual Intercollegiate Sports Day is a huge success!

We were thrilled to serve as the lead sponsor for the annual Intercollegiate Sports Day, which took place on 20 May. The event, in Kent, brought together osteopathic students from various institutes across the UK, fostering camaraderie, teamwork, and a sense of unity within our profession.

The very popular annual Intercollegiate Sports Day took place on Saturday 20 May, and we are delighted to have had the opportunity to again lend our support as lead sponsor for the event.

On sponsoring this year’s event, Katie Griffiths, the iO’s Head of Marketing and Communications, said: ‘We were delighted to sponsor this year’s student’s Sports Day. As a small profession, every opportunity to come together is important.

‘To see osteopathic students from so many colleges descend to enjoy this fun day is great to see, and we hope that they made new connections and friendships that they can take on into their osteopathic careers.’

Held on the beautiful grounds of Boxley Campus at the European School of Osteopathy (ESO) in Kent, the event saw students from Osteopathic Education Institutes across the UK, including BCOM, UCO and Swansea, travel down for a day of relaxed competitive sport, including football, rugby, volleyball and the traditional favourite, tug of war!

Proudly representing the iO this year was Council Member Elliott Reid. He said of the event: ‘It was amazing to see the unity between the osteopathic schools. It was a great display of camaraderie and the differences between the schools being celebrated. It is exactly the right thing for the iO to get behind.’

The iO is elated that this year’s event was a roaring success and was a fantastic way to bring together the osteopathic student community with a key focus on teamwork, collaboration and, most importantly, fun for all!

On behalf of the Student Association at ESO, David Van den Haute stated: ‘The iO-inspired Sports Day was an amazing opportunity to meet fellow students across the country, even a handful from Wales! The spirit of competition was high; however, it fostered a sense of unity in our unique profession that transcended the boundaries of individual institutions.’

We’d extend our good wishes and congratulations to all who participated this year and the outstanding Student Association at ESO for putting on such a spectacular event.
