Apply to become an iO Council Member

This year, the membership will elect three new members to the iO Council. If you are passionate about being an osteopath and want to help us continue to build a growing and thriving profession, recognised and accessible by all, then why not apply to be a candidate? 

 

If you are confident in reaching out to peers and other healthcare professionals, possess a dynamic experienced skillset and are open to positively contributing to this ever-shifting environment, we want to hear from you.

Key responsibilities and commitments

As a member of the Council, you will contribute and oversee the iO’s strategy and vision, working collaboratively with the executive team and various committees. You will represent the iO at various meetings and events and be required to attend quarterly council meetings. Being an iO Council Member involves a commitment of around 12 days per year.

Who should apply?

We seek enthusiastic and proactive iO Members passionate about contributing to our work and developing the osteopathic profession. Through your positive, constructive outlook and desire to work collaboratively with your peers and broader healthcare, you will be working for the increasing recognition of the role of osteopathic practice in supporting the health of the nation. Whether you are an osteopath with over 20 years of experience or a recent graduate driven by a hunger to hit the ground running, a sole practitioner or running a multidisciplinary clinic – we’d love to hear from you!

  • Supply a supporting statement on why you are suitable for the role as outlined in the role specification
  • A current CV

 

Once you have completed the form, your supporting documents must be emailed to Belinda@iOsteopathy.org.

Key dates and deadlines

  • Sunday 18 August – Closing date for applications
  • Monday 16 September – Candidates will be advised if they are eligible for election
  • Saturday 16 November – Elections will take place in Leeds at the iO’s Annual General Meeting

Terms and conditions

The application form also includes monitoring information which will remain confidential and not be passed to the appointments committee.

You must be registered with the General Osteopathic Council and a full member of the Institute of Osteopathy to apply.
